Velvet Curtains in Pakistan: Plain, Embossed, Laser Cut and Monogram Sets

We make heavy velvet parda in four finishes. Plain, embossed, laser cut and woven monogram, plus four piece sets that pair velvet with white chiffon. Sets of two start at Rs 5,100. Every set is stitched after you order, so the panels are made to your window rather than cut to a fixed length.velvet curtains tied back, revealing an autumn forest view in a cozy room with a sofa and lamp

What velvet actually is

Velvet is not a thick cloth. It is a cloth with a forest standing on it. A patent record held by the United States Patent and Trademark Office defines it as an upright standing pile fabric, held in a linear upright state, with high pile density and deep lustre. Those short yarns standing up from the base are the pile, and they are the whole reason velvet behaves the way it does. Making it is unusual. A second patent record describes the loom: two layers of cloth are woven one above the other with the pile threads shared between them, then a blade cuts through the middle. One pass makes two pieces of velvet, each carrying half of those threads standing upright. Three things follow, and they explain almost everything on this page. Light meets a dense stand of fibres instead of a single flat layer, so velvet stops more light than a flat weave of similar thickness. The same density slows heat. And the pile catches light at the tips and holds shadow at the base, which is why one panel looks like two shades as you walk past it. It also explains the care rules further down. Anything that flattens the pile changes the cloth.

The four finishes we make

All four start from the same fabric. What changes is what is done to the surface, and each has its own page where that is explained properly. Plain velvet is the cloth on its own, in one solid colour. Sets of two from Rs 5,100. Embossed velvet carries a raised pattern in the surface that you can feel with your hand. From Rs 5,299. Laser cut and monogram sets are our decorative tier, sold in two tone pairs and supplied with two tie belts. From Rs 8,000. Four piece sets add two white chiffon panels to two velvet ones, so you get a sheer layer for daytime and a heavy layer for night. From Rs 9,800. For something lighter than velvet altogether, see our silk curtains.

Velvet curtains for the bedroom

This is where the pile density earns its price. Be clear on light though. Ours carry no blackout backing, so they cut a great deal of daylight but leave the room dim rather than dark. A coated blackout panel stops light almost completely. Hold any cloth against a bright window to judge it. If the shape of the light shows through, expect grey, not black. For a properly dark room, see our blackout backed range. Heat is the stronger case in this city. In Lahore, June is the hottest month and average highs routinely pass 40°C, with a city record of 48.3°C set on 30 May 1944 and 48°C again on 9 June 2007, according to the Lahore District climate page published by the Government of Punjab. The US Department of Energy reports that medium coloured draperies with a light backing cut heat gain by around a third when closed during the day. Two details decide whether you get that. Hang the panel close to the window, and overlap the two halves in the centre. Gaps at the top and sides are where the heat comes in.

Colours

Plain velvet comes in black, blue, camel brown, chocolate brown, cream, green, grey, maroon red, olive and teal green. Golden works differently here. We do not make a solid gold panel. Gold appears as the second colour in our two tone laser cut and monogram pairs, such as black and golden, camel and golden or chocolate and golden, where it shows through or within the pattern. For a window taking direct afternoon sun, black, maroon red and chocolate brown hold their colour longest. Cream and camel open up a room with the dark wood furniture common in older Lahore houses.

Sizes, and how to measure

We do not sell fixed lengths. Each set is stitched once you order, and length can be increased on request. Measure the rod, not the glass. For width, order a total panel width of one and a half to two times your rod length. A panel the same width as the rod hangs flat and looks thin when closed, which shows badly on velvet because the folds are what give it depth. For drop, measure from the top of the rod to the floor and take off half an inch so the panel clears the ground. For a door, check it clears the handle when drawn back. Measure your rod diameter too. Our sets use stainless steel eyelet rings, which need a round rod the rings slide over, so a thick rod will not pass through. A track or a hook rail needs different hardware. Send a photograph on WhatsApp to 0324 492 4274 with your numbers and we will confirm everything before anything is cut.

One panel or two?

Worth knowing when you compare prices, because single panels are sold elsewhere and the figures are not comparable. Ours are sold as sets of two. Most windows need two so the curtain parts to both sides and meets in the middle when closed, which is also what the heat guidance above depends on. A single panel suits a narrow window or a door, where it draws to one side. So a one panel price is roughly half a job, not a cheaper version of the same thing. Tell us your window and we will say plainly whether you need two.

Washing and dust

Do not machine wash velvet. A patent record for treating pile fabric describes how pressure applied to damp velvet bends the surface yarns into a lasting crush. A washing drum applies exactly that, and crushed pile does not stand back up. Vacuum with a brush head every week or two, moving in the direction the pile lies. Dry clean once or twice a year. Steam a crease out from the reverse side and never press an iron onto the face. Pile also holds more dust than a flat weave, and Lahore summers bring dust storms, so a window facing a main road needs cleaning more often between April and June. Swap your left and right panels once a year, since fade usually starts on the edge nearest the glass.

Prices

Plain from Rs 5,100, embossed from Rs 5,299, laser cut from Rs 8,000, monogram from Rs 8,400 and four piece sets from Rs 9,800. Checked on 27 August 2026. Inside each listing the price moves with your window size, since a wider or taller window takes more cloth. Premium sets take a 50 percent advance because nothing is made until you order. We deliver across Pakistan with cash on delivery for the balance, and every order carries our seven day replacement policy. To match the room, see our cushion covers and velvet bedding sets. The full range sits under curtain designs.

Common questions

What makes velvet good for curtains?

The pile. Short yarns stand upright from the base cloth, so light and heat meet a dense stand of fibres rather than one flat layer. That is why velvet blocks more than a flat weave of similar thickness, and why the colour shifts as you move past it.

Are velvet curtains blackout?

Ours are not. They carry no backing, so they cut a great deal of light but leave the room dim rather than dark. A true blackout panel has a coated backing, and our printed range is the one set we make with one.

Can velvet curtains be washed at home?

No. Pressure on damp pile bends the surface yarns permanently, and a washing machine applies exactly that. Vacuum with a brush head every week or two and dry clean once or twice a year instead.

Do you sell velvet fabric by the metre?

No. We make finished panels, stitched to your measurements, with the eyelet rings and hems already done.

What size are the panels?

They are made to your window rather than sold in set lengths. Send the rod width and the drop from rod to floor in inches and we will stitch to those numbers.

Is velvet too warm for a Lahore summer?

It works in your favour. A closed panel slows heat coming through the glass, which is why it suits a west facing room in June. It does hold more dust than a light fabric, so vacuum it more often through the summer months.
