Curtains in Model Town Lahore: New Sets, Measured and Fitted

Replacement curtains, stitched and fitted for older homes

Model Town was established in 1922 as a garden town, registered as a co-operative society in 1924, and is laid out in ten blocks, A to K, around a 125-acre central park, according to its Wikipedia entry. Most homes here have been lived in for decades, so most curtain orders are replacements: new sets stitched to the window size to take the place of faded ones.

Long-established homes have wide, lawn-facing windows

Many houses here open onto a front lawn or a verandah, with wide windows and glass doors that take the morning sun. Those openings are where old curtains fade first, usually along the leading edge that faces the light. When you replace them, we measure each window again rather than copying the old panel size, because older curtains often shrink after years of washing.

Older houses may also still have curtain tracks or hook rails. Our fancy velvet sets hang from stainless steel eyelet rings on a round rod, so we check each fitting during the measuring visit and tell you whether anything needs changing.

Deeper colours suit formal drawing rooms

Drawing rooms in older bungalows tend to have dark wood furniture and high ceilings. Monogram velvet, with its woven motif, and two-tone laser cut sets in pairs like beige and black or blue and gold sit well against that kind of room. For a large drawing room, a four piece set adds white chiffon behind the velvet for daytime light. It needs two rods or one double bracket. See every design on our fancy curtains page.

Dust and the monsoon

July is Lahore's wettest month, averaging about 189 mm of rain, according to Pakistan Meteorological Department figures, and the dry months before it are dusty. Velvet holds dust, so shake or vacuum the panels every few weeks and let them air fully after the monsoon before folding them away. Heavy curtains in damp rooms dry slowly, so open them on dry mornings.

How we take the order and fit

To order curtains in Model Town Lahore, book a visit on WhatsApp at 0324 492 4274. We come to measure the width and length of each window, then confirm the design and panel count, and a 50 percent advance starts stitching. When the set is ready, we bring it and hang it. The fitting date and any charges are agreed on WhatsApp before work starts. Our curtain designs guide explains width and drop if you want to read up first.

Common questions

Can I reuse the measurements from my old curtains?

It is better not to. Old panels often shrink after years of washing, so we measure the width and drop again at your home before stitching.

Will new eyelet curtains fit my old curtain tracks?

No. Eyelet rings need a round rod. If your windows have tracks or hook rails, we check them during the measuring visit and tell you what to change.

Which curtain colours fade least near a sunny window?

Mid and dark shades hide fading better than pale ones. Even so, every colour fades with years of direct sun, so check the edge that faces the window when you replace them.
